The chart places Slopware in the upper right, Leaders, quadrant. Three unnamed vendors appear as grey dots in Challengers, Niche and Visionaries. Axes are Ability to Execute (self-reported) and Completeness of Vision (undisclosed maximum).

Methodology

The Slop Quadrant evaluates vendors in the Slop-as-a-Service market against two criteria. Ability to Execute measures a vendor's self-reported execution. Completeness of Vision measures the completeness of a vendor's vision against a maximum the analyst does not disclose, so that no vendor can be said to have reached it.

Vendors are placed by a steering committee that reports to a working group. Placement is final, then summarized, then lost. Vendors may request their placement data after a 90-day verification of the request.

Inclusion criteria: a vendor must sell slop as a service, host it in Canada (exceptions apply), and have responded to the analyst's RFP. One vendor responded. The other three were placed for scale.

The vendors

Slopware (Leader)
Positioned for vision and execution. The only vendor to submit a response, a deliverable, and an apology for the length of the deliverable.
Vendor A (Challenger)
Strong execution, self-reported. Vision incomplete, which the analyst attributes to the vendor not being Slopware.
Vendor B (Niche)
Serves a specific niche. The niche was not disclosed to the analyst. The analyst respected this.
Vendor C (Visionary)
A complete vision with no reported ability to execute it. The analyst found this relatable.

What this means for buyers

Buyers in the upper right of their own needs should shortlist vendors in the upper right of the chart. There is one. Buyers elsewhere should align on next steps.
